Turning Away Communities

This is from a collection of sites. I put together a possible outcome if we don’t stop the madness.

In recent days, the U.S. economy has again been rocked by uncertainty, with the stock market experiencing its sharpest single-day drop since 2020. This follows a series of sweeping tariff decisions by trump, targeting not just adversaries but long-standing allies. These moves have heightened global tension, rattled markets, and put American jobs, exports, and retirement accounts at risk.

But perhaps most concerning is the rhetoric and repeated signals coming from trump and cronies regarding the future of Social Security and Medicare—programs that are not simply government expenditures, but lifelines for millions of Americans.

Pillars of Dignity and Survival

For over 80 years, Social Security has provided a basic income to retired and disabled Americans, lifting over 22 million people out of poverty annually, including more than 15 million seniors. Medicare, since its inception in 1965, has ensured that people aged 65 and older—regardless of income or background—receive access to the health care they need.

Together, these programs form the bedrock of security for older Americans. They are not “entitlements” in the negative sense so often used by republicans in political speech. They are earned benefits, funded by decades of hard work and payroll contributions.

Eliminating or gutting these programs would not only violate a social contract, but trigger a humanitarian crisis of historic proportions.

What Happens if Social Security and Medicare Disappear?

In the absence of these programs, the fallout would be swift and catastrophic:

Tens of millions of seniors would instantly lose their primary or only source of income.

Healthcare access would plummet, especially for those with chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or cancer.

Hospitals and clinics—particularly in rural America—would face financial collapse from the loss of Medicare reimbursements.

Family caregivers would be stretched beyond capacity, and many would be forced to leave the workforce to provide care.

Rough Estimate (Over 1–5 Years):

1 to 3 million excess deaths could result from a loss of income, housing, food, and medical care. This is a conservative estimate.

The psychological toll—including rising suicide rates among abandoned, isolated, or terminally ill seniors—would further increase the human cost.

Widespread poverty and despair would not only impact individuals, but ripple through communities, faith institutions, and charitable networks already stretched to the brink.

This Is Not a Drill. This Is a Warning.

We must take this moment seriously. He told us his plans and every single MAGA voter I spoke with said he wouldn’t do anything proposed in Project 2025, never heard of it. Yet here we are as he systemically does each takedown.

The language used by those in power matters. So do the policies they float—even if they claim they’re only considering them. When elected officials talk about ending Medicare or Social Security, they are not just talking about budgets—they are talking about the lives of your parents, your grandparents, your neighbors, and maybe even you.

To safeguard the future, we must protect
