When news broke that Gayle King would be joining   Blue Origin’s space mission, the internet lit up—not with awe, but with anger. And in that moment, something deeper than celebrity gossip unfolded. The decision sparked a collective groan from many who’ve long looked to Gayle and Oprah as women who stood with the people, especially in times of crisis. It felt, to some, like a betrayal. How could Gayle float above the clouds while the country burns below? But maybe it’s time to pause. To look not at the altitude, but at ourselves. We are a nation unraveling under the grip of a man determined to shred the threads of democracy. Each day brings more authoritarian decrees, more silencing of dissent, more erasure of rights once held dear. We are watching the scaffolding of our collective house collapse.
