Cottle County Rodeo

  There’s something magical about a rodeo parade in a small Texas town. It’s not just an event—it’s a tradition that tugs on the heartstrings of anyone who’s ever stood on a sun-warmed sidewalk, waving to passing cowboys and cowgirls, hoping to catch a handful of candy and a memory worth keeping.  I grew up in a small rodeo town outside Dallas. I remember those years when I marched and would laugh when the rival school got stuck marching behind the horses or longhorn! The Mesquite Rodeo and the rodeo parade was fun, so when I learned about the rodeo parade was happening, I pulled my boots up and moseyed to town.  This afternoon, the town square came alive.  Some fun photos.  The pavement echoed with the steady clop of horses’ hooves. Lawn chairs lined the sidewalks in front of shops, and families arrived in their pickup trucks to claim their favorite spots parking spot.
